If you build it they will come! Horace Burgess prayed to God and received a divine message! "If you build me a tree house, I'll see that you never run out of materials." 15 years and he's still going. The tree house currently stands at 97 feet, it has 10 levels and a bell tower.
Yes he told you to build a tree house... but all he said was you wouldn't run out of materials? I'm thinking it was suppose to be a metaphor.
Brings me to a point. When are you as a designer finished with the product. Some people think that you are never actually finished. But, I think your done once the design does what it is suppose to do without it being too much.

DIY
So thinking back to the day that Mr. Roth came by our class and found a post about open sourcing on Core. It's interesting to see that Amy Rickett's from MoreGood's is trying to tell people about everyday design by having this Site automatically create a grid for them and come up with a poster for them. People can just go on and expirement with the service, pretty cool.
Rice
I being hispanic have grown up with rice and still make it as often as I can at home. If your asian or hispanic you are also very familiar with a rice cooker. What is a rice cooker, well other than something that cooks rice it is a sentimental thing. I rice cooker to me is like Jennifer Aniston, plain but lovable, a rice cooker is the girl next door, its home... So I'm sorry Phil Rose from Sydney Australia but your is not a proper rice cooker.

Design and Imagine
Imagination and design go hand in hand I believe. People believe in something and then someone creates it. Ever since the Jetson's I've wanted to believe in personal aviation vehicles, as i'm sure a lot of us have. It's about time we get started.
NASA took keys from the transformers and looked at creating vehicles that could become personal planes. If people can imagine it some one will try and create it.
The Baggage
It's what you focus on that really matters in all types of situations. A recent post on wired speaks about the man's personal hygiene and how he manages to stay far cleaner than many backpackers. His primary goal is to stay clean, so he achieves it, even though he only has one change of cloths.
Trash is the Key to Paradise
Fun the things you can find on BoingBoing!
Repair
One thing that attracts me to design is the process of creation. A designer has a concept in mind and works to try and produce something that represents his concept. Design can speak many languages, it's like math, complex yet so simple.
I read a post on Core77 about this years Ars Electronica whose main focus is on Repair. Repairing the troubles that humanity has gotten it self in, calling to arms those who still do not believe in the danger. Design, something that speaks to many, something that has a message to give.
I'm done
Push to go past the stages of development and seal the deal by producing a product that your proud of. Whether it be perfecting that speech, or coming out with a spectacular product... It's never an accomplishment until it actually gets done.
Ipad?
My mother got an Ipad for herself and i must admit I was intrigued by it when it was first introduced. But at second look... not so much... I was playing around with it for a while and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
Looking at Nussbaum blog I read about what Parson's school kids had to say. Much to my surprised they agreed with my views. the Ipad isn't for creation, its for consumption. Its to sit at home and use as a multimedia machine. Not very interesting...

Natures Design
Man is forced to evolve to fit natures needs... All creatures are forced to evolve. It's interesting how two creatures so different as a homo sapiens and a squid could have core things in common, like eyes.

FA 27 Assignment 1
So I was looking through the interent to find out who I look like... which is obviously no one... But firstly I don't wanna do anyone bad looking and second critirea she, I guess, would have to be hispanic. So here's what I got so far... A blog post led me to askmen and I picked three women, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson, and Salma Hayek... Also Jessica Alba which my boyfriend suggested, but I think his just wishing lol.
Project
For my New Media class this semester I will first be doing a project creating a brand out of a new product. I was searching core77 to find my insperation and found the Blink an electronic Vehicle charging station.
Although this is not a new consept these stations are a rare site. I myself have never seen one before, so I thought it would be a good product to use. Looking further into it I found a different design made from GE which I happen to like the look of better.
GE started a branch dedicated to environmentally friendly design called ecomagination. Working to make it easier for people to start using electrical cars they created this wattstation which would be easy to incorporate into an urban society.
Public Art
School has started and so I'm back to blogging! I went to the city the other day with a friend of mine and I found something that I'd never seen before... Or maybe never took notice of before, like so many of the pedestrians passing by it. It was an exhibition by Tom Otterness called Life Underground. It was a series of sculptures depicting a fairytale of people who lived underground. But it also related to the bums or hobos that we constantly pass by everyday in New York.
